College admission essay
The college admission essay is one of the most dreaded aspects of the admissions process. What is a college admission essay? What do they want from a admission essay? How do I write one? These and other questions plague many a high school senior. If you are in this group, just know that you are not alone. The college admission essay scares every one. However, if you approach it in the right way, your college admission essay need not be such a nightmare. In fact, it can actually be a pleasant experience. That is right...writing a college admission essay can actually be fun (we will repeat that in case you think we are kidding) writing a college admission essay can actually be fun. The pain and frustration that people usually associate with the writing process stem from a number of factors that you can easily fix or avoid. 1. Most people start writing their college admission essay way too late. This is not a test for which you can cram. Your college admission essay will help determine your entire future. Thus, you should start well in advance. Months in advance is ideal. 2. Most people treat their college admission essay as if it were a boring history or English paper. Yes, you do have to adhere to standard rules of grammar and syntax, but you have a great deal of leeway and creativity when writing your college admission essay. Read the rules, understand the rules, and then bend the rules without breaking them. 3. Brainstorm as much as possible before writing your college admission essay. 1 or 2 hours of solid brainstorming will move you from: "I have no idea what to write my college admission essay about," to "I have too many options from which to choose."
